INFO: Middle East Region Conference

Civil Air Patrol's Middle East Region, which includes National Capital Wing, will hold its annual conference and awards banquet the weekend of April 24-26 in Richmond, Va. All cadets and officers may attend. Early registration closes April 1.

ANDREWS AIR FORCE BASE, Md. (Capital Flyer) — Throughout the month of March, the nation celebrates historical and groundbreaking achievements by women. One such woman is aviatrix Mary Feik.
When 18-year-old Mary Feik accepted a position in research and development at Wright field in Dayton, Ohio, (now Wright-Patterson Air Force Base), she had to wait for an assignment. Since she was the first female ever hired to work as one of their flight mechanics, finding a place for her took a little longer than usual.

INFO: National Emergency Services Academy

Applications are now being accepted for the 2009 National Emergency Services Academy (NESA) to be held at Camp Atterbury in Edinburgh, Indiana, from the 27 June until 11 July. There are courses for all members interested in emergency services, and this is a great opportunity for both new members as well as experienced members to come train with hundreds of their peers from across the country.
